Asthma and Chiropractic
Asthma and Chiropractic
If you suffer from asthma you may be interested to know that in my twenty years as a Chiropractor in Concord I have helped many patients get relief from asthma. Chiropractors do not treat asthma however, there is all kinds of research documents the link between the spinal column, the nervous system and the respiratory system. I believe this is why so many people have mentioned improved breathing after starting care at Barton Chiropractic in Concord.
Yes drugs can reduce the symptoms. But there is not a single drug I know of that does not have side effects. Many of the side effects are worst than thae asthma.
Chiropractic and Asthma
Your diaphragm is the primary muscle used for breathing. Nerves that control each breath leave your brain and exit the spinal cord in the mid-neck (C3, C4 and C5) area. Spinal misalignments in this area can affect the nerve supply to the diaphragm. The doctors at Barton Chiropractic in Concord are experts in reducing subluxations in the spine therefor restoring proper nervous system control of the lungs so that improved function can begin.
Research on Chiropractic and Asthma
The types and frequencies of nonmusculoskeletal symptoms reported after chiropractic spinal manipulative therapy. Leboeuf-Yde C, Axen I, Ahlefeldt G, et al. Journal of Manipulative and Physiological Therapeutics Nov/Dec 1999:22(9) 559-64.
Twenty consecutive patients from 87 Swedish chiropractors answered questionnaires on return visits. A total of 1,504 questionnaires were completed and returned. Twenty-three per cent of patients reported improvement in nonmusculoskeletal symptoms, including:
· Easier to breathe (98 patients)
· Improved digestive function (92)
· Reduced blood pressure (2)
· Menses function returned (1)
In fact, research published in the Journal of Vertebral Subluxation Research documented the results experienced by 81 children with asthma who received chiropractic care. The two-month study revealed that those under care saw a 45% decrease in the number of "attacks" and that 31% of the subjects voluntarily chose to decrease their medication. Numerous Studies have confirmed what Chiropractors have known for a long time.
All this without drugs!
